2011 Heart of Gisborne Christmas Parade

4pm,  Saturday, 3 December 2011

Participants in this years Parade certainly had a lot of fun with the theme Christmas at the beach! We had over 32 float entries this year and thousands of parade goers turned out to see some amazing displays big and small, noisy and colourful with sandcastles, boats, lilo’s, togs, towels and beach balls!

Santa and his Reindeer, with the sleigh gliding across water and filled with beach goodies, completed the spectacular in traditional style. Santa and our float entries had a wonderful afternoon and we hope everyone enjoyed it too!

Win a Ride with Santa & his Reindeer!

We received over 160 entries in this years competition that were displayed in the shop window between the ODEON and Suncity Pharmacy from 14th November – 5th December. Winners were selected on Monday the 28th November by judges Bryan Notting, Art Teacher at Gisborne Intermediate and Laura Scheper of Creative Tairawhiti.

The lucky winners were Alyssa Herbert, 8, Mangapapa School & Morgan Devlyn, 8, Te Wharau School. The pair rode atop the Sleigh with Santa during the parade, waving and greeting viewers throughout the city.

Heart of Gisborne in association with MoreFM are happy to announce Santa will be here for two weeks leading up to Christmas, aren’t we lucky!

Come and meet Santa in the City, let Santa know your Christmas wish and snap a pic of your own or with Jayson Kingsbeer Photography. Santa will be in store from 11:30am – 1:30pm. Click here to see a list of stores and dates!

Late night Shopping in town – 22 December 2011

A one night only event to make your Christmas Shopping easy this year, town will be open late til 8pm Thursday 22nd December. We’ll be advertising very soon which stores will be open late and the hottest deals, in-store specials and spectacles happening on the night.

We have arranged for Santa to be out on the street and doing the circuit through town giving away goodies, as well as festive music, and an invitation to vendors and performers to attend.

We’re still on the look out for retailers who wish to participate in late night shopping til 8pm, Thursday 22 December and any special deals or events happening in your store. If you wish to be involved please contact us on 06 8683238 to register.

So, get some creative ideas and special promotions, get festive, decorate and dress your best, as we have gifts for participating businesses too! Heart of Gisborne and The Radio Network will be giving away 4 media packages to the best participating stores judged on the eve.
