What did we learn from the Gisborne earthquake in 2007? 

A magnitude 6.8 earthquake struck Gisborne at 8.55pm on 20 December 2007. Minor damage was widespread but in some locations, especially the CBD, a number of buildings were extensively damaged.  Read the findings of various research bodies in “Shaken Up: Recovery Following the Gisborne Earthquake”.

Shop Lifting and Crime Prevention

Shop lifting is one of the top offences that occur in the CBD, the level of shop theft in Gisborne is disproprtially high and costing retailers more than you think. Heart of Gisborne has been working alongside Gisborne Police, City watch and Beat Constables on finding ways to assist retailers to deal with the issues of shoplifting in Gisborne. In December 2011 a majority of retailers will have received the Business Crime Prevention Booklet and Shop Theft Flow Chart,  a resource for retailers and their staff as a guide of what to do and who to call for help.
