About Heart of Gisborne

“The city centre is the vibrant commercial and social hub of our community.”

Heart of Gisborne is an incorporated society managed by a voluntary executive board. It was established in 2003 and exists to increase the vibrancy and vitality of our city centre. Heart of Gisborne employs a city manager – Ken Huberts, and support manager Jade Baty.

The organisation operates under four key portfolios and is funded mainly by a levy on city centre property owners within a defined geographic area. The total levy collected by Gisborne District Council on our behalf is $185,000 p.a.

The levy is calculated on capital value at 0.001034 in the dollar. For example:

- Capital value $100k = levy $103.40
